Officers for Section C-5A are elected annually at the Section Conclave. They serve a one-year term which concludes at the end of the following Section Conclave.

  Section Chief – Matthew Summers

Kit-Ke-Hak-O-Kut Lodge


Matt is from troop 326 out of Omaha Nebraska, where he is a Vigil Honor member and Founder’s Award recipient from Kit-Ke-Hak-O-Kut Lodge. He has been a Lodge Chief, Section Vice-Chief and serves as the current Section Chief. Matt has attended two National Jamborees and will be part of Operation Arrow staff at the 2017 jamboree, and was at the 2015 NOAC, Matt is also on the Strategy Committee for NEXT. Matt is enrolled at Southeast Community College in the Automotive Technology Program.

  Section Vice-Chief – Alan Burl 

Mandan Lodge


Alan Burl is an Eagle Scout from Troop 148 in Cimarron Kansas. He is a Vigil Honor member from Mandan Lodge. Alan has serviced as Secretary of the Lodge, Vice-Chief of Administration for the lodge and Section Secretary. Alan has been to NLS, And SOS twice. He is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Kansas State University.



Section Secretary – Daniel Haussler 

Golden Sun Lodge


Daniel is an Eagle Scout from Troop 334 in Palmyra, Nebraska. He is a Vigil member in Golden Sun Lodge and a recipient of the Founder’s Award. He has been a Chapter Vice-Chief of Elections, Communications Chairman, and Lodge Chief. Daniel has worked at Camp Cornhusker for six years serving in the Trading Post and COPE. He has also attended two NOACs. Daniel is a Sophomore at Doane University where he is majoring in Theatre, and Business Administration.

Russ Votava is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member and Founder’s award recipient from the Golden Sun Lodge. Russ held chapter and lodge officer positions during his youth and has served as Chapter Adviser, Associate Lodge Adviser, and Lodge Adviser for the Golden Sun Lodge. In the Cornhusker Council, Russ is the Vice-President of Marketing and serves on various Council, Area and Region committees. Other recognition includes the Silver Beaver Award and the District Award of Merit. Russ is also a recipient of the Honor Medal and has served as a Wood Badge Course Director. He has attended NLS, NLATS and many NOACs working on the OA Shows staff. Professionally, Russ is an Electrical Engineer and owns a software development and communications consulting company.
