Section Continues Scholarship Programs for 2007-2008The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is the premiere training experience for all Arrowmen, both youth and adult alike. Likewise, the National Lodge Adviser Training Seminar (NLATS) is the top level training for those adults who are, or will be, advising youth at the Lodge and Chapter levels.At the 2007 Section Conclave, the Council of Chiefs voted to renew our Section Scholarship fund for the 2007-2008 program year. The Scholarship fund was formed to encourage participation in these extraordinary program from every lodge. Two $50 scholarships are allotted to each lodge to send youth Arrowmen to any NLS and one $50 scholarship is allotted to each lodge to send one adult Arrowman to any NLATS over the next year. The intent is for these scholarships to be used for any National Leadership Seminar or National Lodge Adivser Training Serminar during the 2007-2008 program year. The cost for these trainings typically ranges from $100 to $215 for youth Arrowmen and $110 to $225 for adult Arrowmen. The Lodge Key-3 may petition the Section for the scholarships by submitting the NLS or NLATS Scholarship form at least six weeks before the date of the planned training event to allow time for processing.
Order of the Arrow High Adventure ProgramsAs you all know, the Order of the Arrow has some great High Adventure programs. There are two that I would like to highlight, the OA trail crew at Philmont, and the OA wilderness voyage in the boundary waters at Charles L. Sommers canoe base. Both of these are awesome opportunities to serve our order in helping to advance Scouting on a National Scale even more. There is a third program, OA Ocean Adventure at the Florida Sea Base.
